Sneak preview & review | Covergirl Lashblast Clump Crusher mascara (+ giveaway!)

For the spring of 2013 Covergirl is launching a new mascara with the awesomely cool name Lashblast Clump Crusher. The Clump Crusher… I immediately pictured some mean evil super villain in my head. But that’s not what the Clump Crusher is. On the contrary even, if we are to believe Covergirl, then the Clump Crusher is a true super hero. It promises to give 200% more volume, and this without clumping. The secret is in the brush. The curvy shape of it allows you to grab and separate each and every eye lash. I got to try out the new Clump Crusher mascara, and today I am showing you the result. Mighty Melissa versus The Clump Crusher, who will prevail?!

The Clump Crusher?

I am usually not too crazy about these weird ‘’innovative’’ mascara brushes, but I have to admit that I like the brush of the Covergirl Lashblast Clump Crusher mascara. The curved brush really makes it easy to get to all your lashes at once and it easily reaches the outer lashes and even those tiny lashes on the inside. Goodie!

Mascara has to be intensely black for me, and that is what this Covergirl Lashblast Clump Crusher mascara is. The color is deep black and stays like that all day long. Perfect.

I like the result. My lashes are nicely separated and seem to have more volume. But they still look natural. And also very important: no clumps. Now I have to be honest and say that my mascara never really clumps to begin with. Unless I apply multiple layers of it, and I never do that. With multiple layers I mean applying mascara, letting it dry, applying another coat, and so on. I hate that. If I am on the train sitting across a girl that applied her mascara like that, I always feel like asking her why on earth she does that and why she wants to walk around with clumpy mascara like that. Come on, girl, how is that ever a good look? But anyway, in order to really test the Clump Crushing effect of the new Covergirl mascara, I used the technique that I hate so much and I applied several coats of mascara. And lo and behold, no clumps! The Covergirl Lashblast Clump Crusher mascara really does what it promises to do. I am impressed! The Clump Crusher has won and definitely deserves its superhero status.

  4. Wow, that is looking like an excellent mascara! But unfortunately i don’t know of any store in the Netherlands that sells Covergirl. Maybe you could do a giveaway? :-P

  5. Wow, loved the result and your makeup (and eyes!) too! Very nice to have such a review, I love mascara! I have a suggestion too… though it may take more time, not as practical as applying solely with the mascara brush. To separate I love Savvy Lash, and the Go4Big Manhatan mascara separates in a good way too, I swear it’s also amazing! Due to your nice review and pictures, I think I will buy this one!

  10. Oh wow, the result is amazing!!! Of course I enter this giveaway – I looked at CoverGirl before, but never went for it, it would be great to try it out!!
Thank you for making me finding your blog, I will immediately follow you on bloglovin!!

  11. Oh wow, LOOK AT YOUR LASHES! I don’t usually have a lot of luck with rubber wands, but this mascara makes your lashes look insane! Sooo jelly :p

  13. Really loved the idea of putting Juggernaut as the image! Funny! By the way, your eye makeup is great.

I would like to enter this giveaway (I live in Switzerland!) so hopefully it will have the same effect on my lashes. :)

  15. Um WOW! Your lashes look amazing, even with just 1 coat! I’m having a mascara struggle right now where I can’t find one I love! The last one I tested was the Revlon Lash Potion and I noticed it was turning the tips of my lashes down! It looked CRAZYTOWN. I took photos for the post (Thursday) – you will have to stop by for a giggle! I think Clump Crusha (definitely sounds like a super villian or gangsta rap all star) might be my next beauty purchase! Thanks, peaches!

  17. Well, there definitely doesn’t seem to be any clumps! I’ve read conflicting reviews on this mascara but you’re making it sound like its worth a shot, anyway!

  18. Wow! That sounds like a great mascara! I’d really like to try it. Though like you’ve said I never pile up coats and coats of mascara, so I never get clumps (well, except when my mascara has been open for a long time and starts getting dry, so it’s time to throuw it away! ;D).

I’d like to enter the giveaway! (though I doubt I’ll be as lucky as last time, lol) btw I’m also your follower on fb and bloglovin. Thank you Melissa!

    • Ideally mascara shouldn’t be used more than 6 months (the whole eye infection thing and all), but if you’re careful about closing it well and turning the wand in it instead of popping it in and out and in and out to get the mascara on the brush, then it should last you longer than that. Hope this helps :-)
