Doesn’t it feel great when people tell you look radiant? Of course it does. Unfortunately not everyone is blessed with a healthy natural glow, especially not when summer is almost at its end and the gray dreary fall season is about to start again. But luckily there are products that can help you get that lovely glow. Like Yon-Ka’s Serum Vital for example. Let’s have a closer look together.

Yon-Ka, the brand

The French brand Yon-Ka was founded in 1954 and immediately became a pioneer in phyto-aromatic skin care. Yon-Ka’s products contain only the best plant-based ingredients: essential oils, vitamins, fruit acid, polyfenols, peptides, oligo elements,… The list goes on and on. This makes Yon-Ka a high-end luxury brand that sells only the best high-quality products.

Yon-Ka Serum Vital, the principle

Yon-Ka’s Serum Vital is a concentrated serum with 24 amino acids that prevent dehydration of the skin and give it all the nutrients it needs. The plant and soy extracts in the serum restore the skin and the wheat germ oil in the formula nourishes it. And like all Yon-Ka products, the Serum Vital contains Yon-Ka’s exclusive Quintessence mix: five essential oils obtained from lavender, rosemary, thyme, geranium and cypress that revitalise the upper layers of the skin and have a smoothing effect. Yon-Ka advises to use the Serum Vital at night, especially after sun exposure or after long periods of stress or fatigue.

Yon-Ka Serum Vital, the verdict

That was the Yon-Ka Serum Vital on paper. But how does this so-called radiance booster do on the skin? Very good. With serums I always worry that they might be too greasy for my skin, but the Serum Vital is suitable for all skin types. The very watery texture does make my skin shiny, but because I use the serum at night it doesn’t really bother me. During the day that shine would definitely be a big no-no, but at night I don’t mind it. And in the morning all the shine is gone, so that proves how much my skin needs a night-time moisture boost. It just goes to show that even oily skin can lack moisture.

The scent of the Yon-Ka Serum Vital is lovely. I use Yon-Ka’s Masque n°1 and I was delighted to discover that the Serum Vital kind of smells the same. I bet it’s the special mix of those five essential oils in the formula. The smell is delicate, flowery and makes me feel very zen.

And the promised radiance boost? I find it hard to judge that at this point. Most skin care products need a while to really start working, and I guess it’s no different with this Serum Vital. So I will just wait it out a few more weeks. But I do notice that my skin feels nice and supple and that it looks really healthy. And call me crazy, but I think it’s also helping me to get rid of the acne and redness on my face. Coincidence or not, it’s a very welcome side effect. So far so good!

The only downside is the price. You pay a whopping 158 CHF for the Yon-Ka Serum Vital. That’s Expensive with capital E. But in return you do get a real luxury product with high-quality ingredients, a lovely at-home-wellness experience, and with a little luck also smooth radiant skin. I say it’s a keeper!

Do you know Yon-Ka? Would you use this serum?

  1. Love your reviews, they are so detailed and thorough. I have problems fighting fatigue and stress and acne so i think i should start saving and give this baby a try

    Naaj x

  2. I love Yon ka but I can’t afford it. My stepmother in Canada uses their products (just imagine the change rate to CAN$) every time I go to my dad I borrow the products. This serum sounds lovely nice review.

  3. I’ve never heard of this brand before, but then again, I’ve never been to a spa where you would find products like this. Maybe I should go at one point.
I have a thing for serums and wouldn’t mind spending a bit of money on them if the ingredients are high quality like it seems to be the case with Yon-Ka.

  4. Hey Melissa, I have heard of the brand but I haven’t tried anything from them! For the moment I’m trying a couple of new serums (from Estee Lauder and Estelle & Thild). Hopefully they’ll keep my skin happy in the coming months!

  5. I’ve tried Loreal’s serum and it works just fine. Never heard of this product. But if this product lives according to its promise, I think it’s okay to purchase one despite the steep price. You have acne? I swear it’s not obvious on your photos (;

  6. this is the first I’ve heard of this brand :) i tend to stick to japanese and korean brands usually for skincare since they have alot of cutting edge anti-aging stuff and I am obsessed with anti-aging skincare :)))

  10. Thanks for leaving such a darling comment on my blog!
Lately people have been telling me I look rather tired, so maybe I should take a closer look on that!

    Have a great day,

  11. I love your reviews! So, as I won’t find this serum where I am now, only next month
back to the Uk (how time flies!), I probably won’t buy it (but I’m taking the Catrice powder note with me :) I would recommend for a glowy skin Liquid Gold, although I don’t wear it
often :) Your comments are so nice always, and believe me, they make my day! You
    are so nice! denisesplanet com

  12. ohh never heard of this brand before.. but you rated it so highly i’m going to have to check out the brand and this particular product especially since i’ve been looking for a new serum! thanks babe!!

  13. I agree that not everyone has natural glowing skin. Would I use this serum? I am not too sure though. There are so many products in the market and sometimes I had a hard time trying to match the right products to my skin condition,

  14. It is expensive, but if it works its worth it! This would be a great pick-me-up for my skin during the winter months – my skin gets somewhat dull then!

I love your comments!
