Make-up can already make a big difference in how you look, but a good skin care routine is just as important to look your best every day. The people at Glominerals know that, and that’s why the brand has an impressive range of skin care and skin protection products. From that range I currently own three products – gotta start somewhere – and today I would like to tell you a little bit more about them. Have a look!

I like scrubbing. Wednesday evening is my weekly scrub moment, so Thursday is always my most radiant day of the week. Seriously! By scrubbing your skin at least once a week you remove dead skin cells, stimulate cell renewal and improve the absorption of all your creams and potions. Healthy glow ensured the next morning! Right now I use the Pumpkin Enzyme Scrub from Glo-Therapeutics for my weekly scrub session. It’s a gentle face scrub with pumpkin enzymes that help break down old and irregular skin cells. The date seeds and jojoba grains in de scrub have a gentle yet efficient scrub effect, the rice extract in it is exfoliating, soothing and nourishing, and all the other plant and fruit enzymes in the formula help keep your skin smooth and healthy. And the icing on the cake is the hyaluronic acid – the best anti-aging ingredient by far – that Glominerals decided to pump into the scrub as a little bonus. Sounds good ,huh?

And it really is good, too. The Glo-Therapeutics Pumpkin Enzyme Scrub is gentle on my skin but still manages to make it look smooth and radiant. Some scrubs turn my face a bit red, and though that redness always disappears after a few hours, I do appreciate that the Pumpkin Enzyme Scrub doesn’t irritate my skin. Unlike most scrubs you have to leave the Glo-Therapeutics Pumpkin Enzyme Scrub on for 5 to 10 minutes after massaging it on the skin, so it is actually a scrub slash face mask. I like killing two birds with one stone – not literally, you sickos – so this is just great. And the smell of the scrub (pumpkin smell?) is quite nice as well, so bonus points for that.

Sun protection is important and I always use sunscreen when I know I will be spending long periods of time in the sun. I used to think that all sunscreens were more or less the same (same principle, different packaging/brand/texture, you know) but apparently there are some remarkable differences between the different types of sunscreen on the market. On one hand you have chemical sunscreens that absorb into the skin and absorb incoming UV rays, and on the other hand you have mineral sunscreens or sunblocks that stay on the skin and reflect UV rays directly off the surface of the skin. Studies have shown that mineral sunscreens are more efficient and safer than chemical sunscreens, which is good news for me because my new Glo-Therapeutics Oil Free SPF 40+ Sunscreen is a mineral sunscreen with SPF 40+ that uses zinc oxide as a main ingredient to prevent sun damage.

This is my first mineral sunscreen and I have to say that I am very pleasantly surprised by it. All sunscreens that I have tried so far – even the versions that claimed to be mattifying – turned me into a walking oil slick. But the Glo-Therapeutics Oil Free SPF 40+ Sunscreen doesn’t. Hallelujah! So the ‘Oil Free’ in the name really is there for a  reason and this sunscreen really is perfect for people like me who have quite oily skin. I don’t use the sunscreen every day – on my way to and from work the sun is either still or already down – but on the days that I do use it my skin looks exactly the same as when I don’t. So I get high sun protection without annoying side effects, and that’s definitely a first for me. Muchos gracias, Glo-Therapeutics!

If we’re going to pamper and protect our skin we can’t forget to take care of our lips as well. Because yep, our lips need nourishment and protection too. And no, that doesn’t have to look like this:

The brand new Glominerals Protecting Lip Treatment SPF 15 is a tinted lip treatment that nourishes, hydrates and protects the lips. The vitamin A, C and E and the green tea extract in the formula moisturize the lips and natural titanium oxide provides broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection. So the Glominerals Protecting Lip Treatment is basically an intensely moisturizing tinted lip balm with an extra hidden advantage, namely sun protection in the form of SPF 15. I have the Glominerals Protecting Lip Treatment SPF 15 in Champagne Punch, a pale rosé champagne pink shade with a little bit of shine. So don’t you dare hitting the slopes with embarrassing white lips this winter, because with this Lip Treatment you can do it in style! I don’t think mine will last until the start of the skiing season, though, because I have been using Champagne Punch almost daily now for the past two weeks.

  1. Thanks for your advice, I’m going to scrub right now! The lip balm has a beautiful colour.
I’m wondering about buying the Embryolisse day cream, have you tried it? I read a review on it yesterday and I’m tempted.
    Mafalda ❤

      • I’m interested because AfterDRK called it the miracle cream, and it’s very versatile (it’s a day cream, but also an after sun cream and creamy lotion), and the fact that I can share it with my man and even use it on my kids is very enticing. I’ll let you know, it’s 22€, an OK price for me!

  2. You always have such nice skincare. I’m also always looking for a good sunscreen that doesn’t melt in my eyes or just sit on top of the skin. That one looks promising.

  3. Hahahah. Thats frozen lips picture is hilarious! Lip treatment sounds good. I have also heard of lip scrub. Didn’t get the chance to try them on. Maybe I should try out one day!

  4. The man’s pic is so funny!! hahaha
I scrub my skin once a week too. I think like you, it’s very important to do it! I’ll have to try this products, it’s sounds perfect! Kisses

  7. You are too hilarious! I love that you have a dedicated scrub night! Me too! I usually exfoliate twice a week if I remember, but always on Sunday without fail! At least Monday mornings I’ll kind of look refreshed, even if I’m still wishing it was the weekend!

  8. I love the way how you differentiated a chemical sunscreen from a mineral sunscreen. I personally lean towards the latter because I have super duper sensitive skin. It’s good to know that it uses zinc oxide to protect the skin from the damaging rays of the sun – it’s the same ingredient that I look for mineral foundations that my skin greatly favors. If we’re not going to make informed decisions regarding sunscreen use, we may end up using sun protection products that have oxybenzone or octinoxate which were found to be toxic in the reproductive system. Thanks for this very thorough post. I will definitely check this gem from glo-therapeutics.

I love your comments!
