Back in August I wrote a review on Smashbox’s new Always Sharp Kôhl Liners, and those who remember that blog post or click to read the article know that I was veeeeeery enthusiastic about the self-sharpening eye pencils. In 2014 Smashbox is launching a second Always Sharp collection, and I already got to test three of the eight new colors, lucky me! The upcoming Always Sharp 3D Liner collection won’t be available until mid-January, but a true beauty addict always comes prepared, so let’s have a closer look at what to expect next month!

The new Smashbox Always Sharp 3D Liners look very much like the Smashbox Always Sharp Kôhl Liners, and the formula and quality are pretty much identical as well. For the full details you can click here to read the review that I wrote back in August, but it basically comes down to this: the Smashbox Always Sharp eye pencils have an incredibly creamy formula that allows for a dream application, they are amazingly pigmented and they’re perfectly waterproof. And in the cap there’s a built-in sharpening mechanism that automatically sharpens the pencils every time you twist the cap. Pretty impressive, huh?

But there is also a difference between the Always Sharp Kôhl Liners and the new Always Sharp 3D Liners, because the new 3D Liner collection has – unlike the Kôhl collection – a shimmery finish which creates a sparkly 3D effect. Hence the name 3D Liners.

from left to right: Gunmetal, Neptune & Sparks

In total there will be eight shades available of which I got to try three: Sparks, Gunmetal and Neptune. Sparks is a gorgeous dark khaki brown shade, Gunmetal is an edgy metallic silver and Neptune is a mesmerizing dark blue. I like dark eyeliner, so Gunmetal is not really my cup of tea, but Sparks and Neptune are right up my alley. Sparks is the perfect shimmery alternative to plain brown or black eyeliner, and Neptune adds a pop of color to your eye make-up without being over the top.

Yep, I rrreally like the new Always Sharp collection. Smashbox has been my absolute go-to brand for good eye pencils for a while now, and it looks like that won’t be changing any time soon!

The Smashbox Always Sharp 3D Liner eye pencils will be available mid-January in eight different colors. They will be sold exclusively at Marionnaud for 27 CHF.

Which of these three colors do you like best? What is your favorite brand for eye pencils?

  1. Die donkerblauwe is zo mooi! Handig van dat slijpmechanisme want ik zit altijd te sukkelen met oogpotloodjes die afgesleten zijn.. en dan is er nooit een slijper in de buurt te vinden :p

  2. Sparks is my favorite here! For some reason I don’t use pencil liners that much anymore, even though I have a small handful that I really like (love the Pixi formula, and the UD one ain’t bad)!

I love your comments!
