I loooooove getting a little me-time, which is why every Sunday night I treat myself to a private beautifying session. That means a foot bath, a pedicure, a manicure, and of course also a face mask. The mask that I normally use is Unique’s Renewing Mask, but when I received two Montagne de Jeunesse masks to try I put away my trusted Unique mask and spent two Sundays mixing things up a bit. Time to find out if that decision was a hit or a miss!

Montagne de Jeunesse, the brand

Though Montagne de Jeunesse has been around for 25 years, this was my first experience with the brand. But we’re already best buddies, because Montagne de Jeunesse and I share the same philosophy. All of the brand’s products are bursting with natural ingredients and are as eco-friendly as possible. And the brand is also 100% vegetarian because – and I quote – ‘’animals are our friends and we don’t bash bunnies or add bits of animals to our products.’’ High five to that! And the brand also sets itself apart from other brands with its fun packaging and light-hearted approach. In need of a mood booster? Grab a Montagne de Jeunesse mask!

Montage de Jeunesse Passion Peel Off mask

Review (Montagne de Jeunesse Passion Peel Off & Dead Sea Mud Spa mask) (2)

The Montagne de Jeunesse Pasion Peel Off mask is a mask with pomegranate, passion flower, raspberry, grape, cranberry and vitamin E. These are all powerful antioxidants that claim to protect the skin against harmful influences. And since this is a peel-off mask, the product has a gel-like texture that turns into a rubbery stretchy peel after a while, which according to Montagne de Jeunesse deeply cleanses the pores.

The fun starts straight away with this mask, because the texture and the smell are aaaaabsolutely delicious! The gel looks and feels like liquid candy and feels very pleasant on the skin, and it just smells fingerlickingly tasty. It almost smells good enough to eat*! And the transparent candy pink color – not purple like you see on the packaging – looks quite appetizing as well. After leaving the mask on for 15 to 20 minutes it’s time to take it off, and to my surprise that was actually a lot harder than I had expected. I couldn’t just peel the mask off in one go, but I really had to work in sections and tug and peel it off bit by bit.
* just to be clear: don’t eat it.

Review (Montagne de Jeunesse Passion Peel Off & Dead Sea Mud Spa mask) (7) Does it show that I was kind of reluctant to show these not very flattering pictures of myself…? ;-)

But even though removing the mask was a bit fussy, applying and wearing it was already enough for a great me-time moment. And the results? Well, I can’t really say that my pores looked any cleaner than before and obviously you can’t see the protecting effect of the antioxidants, but let’s just assume it’s there. For me it’s the overall pampering experience that counts with this mask, and what I did clearly see was that it made my skin suh-suh-suuuuuper soft.

Montagne de Jeunesse Dead Sea Mud Spa mask

Review (Montagne de Jeunesse Passion Peel Off & Dead Sea Mud Spa mask) (4)

The Montagne de Jeunesse Dead Mud Spa mask is a mask with dead sea minerals, sea weed and kelp that promises to revitalize and intensely hydrate the skin. What makes this mask special is that you don’t have to massage it onto your skin. Instead it comes as a ready-made mask in the form of a mud-infused cloth that you just have to press onto your face. Very practical*.
* and as you will soon see also kind of ridiculous-looking ;-)

Review (Montagne de Jeunesse Passion Peel Off & Dead Sea Mud Spa mask) (5)

Unlike its sweet-scented pink sister the Dead Sea Mud Spa mask has a minty green color and smells very fresh. And it also feels refreshing on the skin, which I think is really cool. Literally ;-) When I took the mask off after fifteen minutes I immediately noticed that my skin looked a bit more plump and that it had a nice glow to it. So the Dead Sea Mud Spa mask definitely gives your skin a serious moisture boost, that’s for sure. And this without making it greasy by the way, phew. This is exactly what my skin needed after the chaotic holiday season!

Bottom line

I liked both Montagne de Jeunesse masks and I’m pretty sure that will use them again in the future. I’ll have to stock up first though, because unfortunately one bag only holds enough product for one application. The strong points of each mask? The Passion Peel Off mask is good for your skin as well as for your mood and leaves your skin feeling baby soft. And the Dead Sea Mud Spa mask is perfect to invigorate tired and thirsty skin. So that’s two thumbs up 2x!

  3. Hey Sunday nights are my ‘pamper’ nights too! Haha. That means hair + face masks, body scrub, mani pedi. Almost all the products I use are from The Body Shop, they’re pretty good x

  4. I think I would walk straight pass these if I saw them in store (the packaging is so old school!), but they sound like awesome masks, love that it’s 100% vegetarian!

  5. Have never heard of this brand. Thanks for the heads up. So cool the line is vegetarian.
PS That Dead Sea mask sounds like something I can use right now. My skin after the holidays….ugh….

  6. Haha, I especially love your comments with the pictures. I’m proud you dared to add them :) both products sound good.. but I’d rather create my own – natural – masks.. but then there’s this problem of me being too busy and too lazy to do that… oh dear.

  7. I love masking but I notice I always have a pimple attack after a day or two. I’m not sure if this is an allergic reaction to the product or is the mask bringing out the impurities.

  12. 25 years already and I didn’t know it either! I think masks are so good to our skins, and I liked the name Montagne de Jeunesse :) It speaks for itself! I think you look beautiful anyway, with a mask or with makeup, what proves you are natural beautiful! The scond one, I grant, was a bit tricky, but it would be for anyone :)

  13. Oh, I tried to leave a comment and it didn’t work :( Well, I said that it is 25 years old and I didn’t know it either, wow! Well, I am sure I don’t know many more things :) I think that with or without a mask you looked beautiful, so it proves you are naturally beautiful! Masks are so good, and Montagne de Jeunesse speaks for itself, the name is cool!

    • It’s because you put your blog address in your comments. WordPress marks your comment as spam because of that. I end up removing all site links anyway, so it’s better just to use the designated box to enter your blog address.

  14. Hi Melissa! You ALWAYS look gorgeous, even with a mask :)
And “never withouth black liner”, hihihi.
I have tried both masks and the peel off was great, it was easy to peel for me, I did it in one go and the mask came off complete. The second mask unfortunately did not work for me. I have a quite sensitive skin, and I tried a little of the mud in the inner part of my under arm and got a reaction :(
That didn’t surprised me because I’m super allergic person. But I would like to test some other masks of this brand.
    Have a nice weekend sweetie!

    • Aw, thanks Nati! I felt rrreally self-conscious posting those photos. Waking up in the morning and seeing myself au naturel in the mirror is definitely one of the low points of my day everyday, lol… I’m sorry to hear that you got a bad reaction from the mud mask :-( But at least you managed to peel off the other one in one go, that’s great :-)
