I have to admit that I don’t use sunscreen every day. But before you sentence me to two weeks without make-up privileges for high beauty treason, wait, because I have a valid reason for committing this beauty crime. I mean, what’s the point in using sunscreen if the sun has only just come up when you leave for work in the morning and if it’s already dark again by the time you go home? And on my free days I’m usually inside all day anyway, writing blog posts and taking product pictures, so there’s not much use in using sunscreen on those days either*. But now that the days are getting longer – spring, woop woop – my face is slowly starting get more and more sun again, so it’s time to reintroduce the SPF. Last week I had the pleasure of receiving the new Sisley Sunleÿa G.E. Age Minimizing Global Suncare SPF 30, and I immediately made it my new sunscreen of the moment. I’ve been wearing it every day for a couple of days now, so let’s find out how it does!
* gosh, my life sounds so exciting…

Review (Sisley Sunleÿa G.E. Age Minimizing Global Suncare SPF 30) (1)

The Sisley Sunleÿa G.E. Age Minimizing Global Suncare SPF 30 is a waterproof facial sunscreen that not only contains powerful UVA and UVB filters but also contains a whole range of active anti-aging ingredients. So it does more than just provide sun protection, and it also actively fights skin aging. The Einkorn wheat extract in the formula combats cell glycation and skin aging, dill extract boosts the elastin levels which keeps the skin firm and wrinkle-free for longer, vitamin E works as a powerful antioxidant, and the soy peptide extract and white willow leaf extract in the cream help maintain the skin’s elasticity and firmness. Sounds good!

The Sisley Sunleÿa G.E. Age Minimizing Global Suncare SPF 30 comes in a short rather chunky plastic pump bottle. The bottle really is the perfect size and I find it very easy to hold and use. The opening in the pump is small which helps you to get the right amount of cream and prevents you from wasting any product.

Review (Sisley Sunleÿa G.E. Age Minimizing Global Suncare SPF 30) (3)

The texture of the Sisley Sunleÿa G.E. Age Minimizing Global Suncare SPF 30 is thick and creamy. So it’s definitely a sunscreen cream, not a milk or a lotion. The cream applies smoothly and feels nice on the skin. And the smell is just lovely. Instead of the not-so-pleasant sunscreen smell you usually get, the Sisley Sunleÿa G.E. Age Minimizing Global Suncare SPF 30 has that typical Sisley smell: delicate, sophisticated, kind of earthy and with a lovely herbal touch.

Whether the Sisley Sunleÿa G.E. Age Minimizing Global Suncare SPF 30 actually protects my skin and fights skin aging is difficult to say of course. I assume it does. Judging from the ingredient list, the promises Sisley makes and my own experience with the product I have the feeling that the Sisley Sunleÿa G.E. Age Minimizing Global Suncare SPF 30 really does live up to the claims. So overall I’m enthusiastic about the Sisley Sunleÿa G.E. Age Minimizing Global Suncare SPF 30. The only downside, for me at least, is that it makes my face a bit oilier and shinier than the oil-free sunscreen that I used before. That’s probably because of the shea butter in the formula. I’m sure people with dry and normal skin will appreciate that extra bit of TLC, but for oily skin like mine the addition of shea butter in the formula is a bit too much.

And another potential downside? The price. The Sisley Sunleÿa G.E. Age Minimizing Global Suncare SPF 30 will set you back – get a load of this – 245 CHF. Ouch! Sure, you get more than just UVA and UVB protection and I guess that turning back or at least slowing down the clock doesn’t have a price, but still, it’s a lot of money. My final verdict? Fantastic sunscreen, slightly less fantastic price tag.

The Sisley Sunleÿa G.E. Age Minimizing Global Suncare SPF 30 will be available in April. There will also be a lighter version with SPF 15.

What product do you use to protect your skin against sun damage? How much money are you willing to pay for a good sunscreen product?

  1. Flawless review! as per usual :)
mmm… the price tag is definitely concluding for me. I can’t afford it! While I’m willing to pay 50 – 80 CHF for a good product, more than that seems just out of scope. And the fact that is not totally oil free makes it less probable for me to buy (if I had that money for skin care :P ).
That said, I still haven’t found my holy grail sun protection so I read eagerly through all your great suggestions!

  4. Wow, that’s really out of my budget! Still it’s not a product I would want to buy because of my oily skin. I have to say I haven’t found a facial sunscreen because all of them are too oily, so I don’t wear any hoping my BB cream is helping somehow. But for body, I got once a Lancaster which I though was a bit expensive (40 something) but it was totally worth it.

  5. I actually don’t use any products to protect my skin from the sun, I know not good… I really have to take some time one of these days to search a good product that fits my skin type. Anyway, really liked this review of this product! Love, Annelies

  6. I know *exactly* what you mean – I spend most of my time indoors (including many hours literally in the dark, in a windowless room – hazard of working with lasers), so I don’t usually bother with sunscreen either. Having said that, I will scurry from place to place with an umbrella or book sheltering any exposed skin, because I am also a vampire :-P

I have yet to find a sunscreen that has real protection that doesn’t give me eczema either :-S
