The grass is always greener on the other side – or in my case the hair is always thicker on the other side – and we always want what we don’t have. I have thin fine hair, but I’d give anything to have a thick head of voluminous hair. So every time a new densifying hair line is launched I’m all ears, and of course I was really excited when Kérastase launched its new Densifique line. Today I’m reviewing the shampoo, the mask and the styling mousse from the line. Have a look!
Kérastase Densifique: the technology
The shampoo and the mask from the Kérastase Densifique line contain a special molecule called Stemoxydine that promotes new hair growth and can grow up to 1700 new hairs in three months. All products from the line, the mousse included, also contain glycopeptide – a mix of three amino acids – that improves the structure and quality of the hair and adds vitality and body. And hyaluronic acid helps the hair to hold on to moisture better which keeps it healthy and bouncy. I don’t know about you, but when I hear all this my heart skips a beat. Several beats even!
Kérastase Densifique Bain Densité
The Kérastase Densifique Bain Densité is a thickening shampoo that claims to give the hair more body without weighing it down. The shampoo is semi-transparent and a bit gel-like, it lathers well, and the smell is amazing. If you like that typical luxurious salon smell and want to have a professional salon experience at home you’ll definitely like the Kérastase Densifique Bain Densité.
After I wash my hair with the Kérastase Densifique Bain Densité it feels really soft, supple and light. This is the fifth week that I’m using this shampoo, but so far I don’t see any new hair growth yet. What I do see though is that my hair looks better and – I’m almost afraid to say it out loud out of fear of jinxing it – even a bit fuller. So that’s definitely a good start. I can’t wait to see the result after three whole months. I’m counting on those 1700 new hairs, Kérastase!
Kérastase Densifique Masque Densité
The Kérastase Masque Densité is a regenerating hair mask that claims to give the hair more body, volume and resilience. The mask comes in a cute jar and has a lovely soft orange color. Pretty! The texture of the mask is lighter and less creamy than that of most masks, and it looks and feels a bit gel-like. And the smell is just as amazing as that of the shampoo. If there’s such a thing as hair heaven then I bet it smells like the Kérastase Densifique products.
I use the Kérastase Masque Densité on my ends and lengths, and thanks to the lightweight formula it doesn’t weigh down my hair. What it does do is keep my hair healthy and shiny. Whether the mask also makes my hair thicker I don’t know. To be honest, I don’t think that it does. I think it’s mostly the shampoo that does that. So for me the Kérastase Masque Densité is more like an additional nourishing treatment.
Kérastase Densifique Densimorphose
The Kérastase Densimorphose is a densifying styling mousse that promises to give the hair more substance, body and resilience.
I actually almost never use styling products like gels and mousses because I get the impression that they only weigh down my hair and make it look even more limp than it already is. But with the Kérastase Densimorphose that is not the case. On the contrary even, the mousse doesn’t weigh down my hair at all and it doesn’t make it greasy either. I use the Kérastase Densimorphose whenever I blow dry my hair, and when I do I notice that my hair looks a lot fuller than when I blow or air dry it au naturel. Apart from the Kérastase Densimorphose I only own two other styling mousses, but out of the three mousses that I have the Kérastase Densimorphose is definitely my favorite one.
The Kérastase Densifique Bain Densité, Masque Densité and Densimorphose mousse are available at official Kérastase salons for approximately 31 CHF, 59 CHF and 39 CHF.
