I love citrus. I love citrus scents (find proof here, here and here), I love citrus flavors (fruit salad or a mojito anyone?), I love citrus colors (lemon yellow, tangerine orange and lime green = puhreeetty!), I love it all! And I also love slathering my wet body with citrus and wrapping myself from head to toe in a zesty cloud of deliciousness*. Especially in summer. And this summer I’ll get to go all out, because in July L’Occitane is launching a brand new collection of verveine-scented products! I got to try two of the new L’Occitane Frisson de Verveine products in preview, and today I’d like to share my thoughts with you.
* I realize that this sounds like a scene from a bad romance novel
L’Occitane Frisson de Verveine Eau De Toilette
First up is the star product from the L’Occitane Frisson de Verveine collection, the Frisson de Verveine Eau de Toilette. The smell and the look of the eau de toilette were inspired by the fresh, clean smell and color of verveine leaves from the Provence. The scent opens with lemon and bergamot followed by verveine and cucumber, and ends with a hint of musk and cedar wood. Together these notes create a light, fresh citrus scent.
The smell of the L’Occitane Frisson de Verveine Eau de Toilette is fairly subtle, which is why for me it’s more like an all-over body perfume rather than a real perfume. It’s also a rather sharp kind of citrus scent, and I think that an extra touch of lime or lemongrass would have been nice as it would have made the scent a bit softer and more balanced. The L’Occitane Frisson de Verveine Eau de Toilette is probably the kind of fragrance that will either completely win you over or not do anything for you at all. As a citrus lover I definitely like it, but if L’Occitane had gone for just a slightly softer and more delicate citrus scent I probably would have liked it even better and declared myself president of the Frisson de Verveine fan club. Now I’m just a happy club member.
L’Occitane Frisson de Verveine Fresh Shower Gel
The L’Occitane Frisson de Verveine Fresh Shower Gel has the same enticing zesty smell as the eau de toilette, but just with a little more sparkle and a little more zing. Perfect for a refreshing shower time moment. The shower gel has a gel-like, almost jelly-like texture and lathers nicely. And those bubbles that you see in the bottle? Fun! Together with the fresh green color of the product they really add to the refreshing character of the shower gel.
After showering the L’Occitane Frisson de Verveine Fresh Shower Gel leaves behind a subtle fresh citrusy veil on my skin that creates a perfect harmony with the eau de toilette. Yep, for me this is definitely a fan club-worthy shower gel, and this time I’ll gladly take the position of president!
The L’Occitane Frisson de Verveine collection will available in July. The L’Occitane Frisson de Verveine Eau de Toilette will retail at 69 CHF and the L’Occitane Frisson de Verveine Fresh Shower Gel will retail at 23 CHF. In addition to the eau de toilette and the shower gel there will be five more products in the collection.
Do you like citrus-scented beauty products? Will you be getting anything from the L’Occitane Frisson de Verveine collection this summer?
