In the kitchen I like to keep things light and fresh – add too much butter or cream to my food and my appetite is ruined – but in the bathroom I believe in the creamier the better! I really love rich creamy body products and I’m just crazy about things like body butters, whipped body creams and other extremely nourishing treats. So you can imagine how excited I was when I got the opportunity to test an organic Body Lotion Bar and Hand Lotion Bar from Coola. Have a look!

Coola Body Lotion Bar Grapefruit Peppermint

The Coola Body Lotion Bar Grapefruit Peppermint is a solid body lotion. That means that it’s solid at room temperature, but becomes soft and starts to melt when you warm it up in your hands. In addition to grapefruit and peppermint that give the product a subtle sweet and at the same time fresh scent, the formula also contains organic shea butter and almond and avocado oil that make it deliciously rich and nourishing.

The texture of the Coola Body Lotion Bar Grapefruit Peppermint is a bit greasier than that of your average body lotion, which is why it takes a little more time for it to get completely absorbed by the skin. So it’s not exactly the ideal body lotion for when you want to quickly moisturize in the morning and immediately get dressed. But for when you want to treat yourself to a little quality me-time after a late-night shower the Coola Body Lotion Bar Grapefruit Peppermint is just perfect. It also works very well as a massage bar by the way, and because it comes in a practical tin it’s super easy to store and take with you.

Coola Hand Lotion Bar Lavender Chamomile

The Coola Hand Lotion Bar Lavender Chamomile is basically the mini version of the Coola Body Lotion Bar. It contains the same organic shea butter, avocado oil and almond oil as its bigger brother and has the same rich nourishing texture. The difference is that the Coola Hand Lotion Bar Lavender Chamomile is delicately scented with lavender and chamomile, and that it’s meant to be used as a hand lotion instead of as a body lotion.

Review (Coola Body Lotion Bar & Hand Lotion Bar) (4)

Just like the Body Lotion Bar, the Coola Hand Lotion Bar Lavender Chamomile isn’t absorbed straight away after you apply it, so it’s not the most practical hand lotion for on the go and I personally prefer to use it at home. But I’m okay with that, because it’s thanks to that super rich texture that the Coola Hand Lotion Bar Lavender Chamomile is so amazing at hydrating my skin and keeping my very dry hands soft and nourished.

The Coola Lotion Bar Grapefruit Peppermint and the Coola Hand Lotion Bar Lavender Chamomile are available in the Coola online store for respectively 26 and 14 CHF.

Have you tried a solid hand or body lotion yet? What do you think of the Coola Body Lotion Bar and Hand Lotion Bar?

  1. I actually like products that are bit more greasier coz I have super dry skin. Thanks for this review, Melissa. We don’t get this brand here, but it’s still good to know:)

  2. Die eerste bar is een stuk groter dan ik in eerste instantie dacht, als ik ‘m zo op je hand zie haha. Ik kende het merk nog niet maar lijkt me wel lekker. X

  4. Lush makes a similar concept that I’ve been wanting to try forever. Oily products are great when you are pregant or loosing wait to avoid the dreaded stretch marks!

Unfortunately grapefruit oil is photo sensitizing I would avoid putting it in exposed areas.
