Review | Coola Daydream Mineral Primer + Skinny Dip Tinted Mineral Liplux SPF 30

My beauty wish for 2017 is for more brands to add sun protection to their make-up products. Sure, there are plenty of foundations that offer sun protection, but most of them have a pathetically low SPF rating and offer only a teeny tiny bit of UV protection. Oh your foundation has SPF 15? That’s cute.

And what about all the other stuff we put on our face? What about primers? Lip products? Finishing powders? Blushes? Eyeshadows? Infuse all that sh*t with some SPF, I say! It’s not like it can’t be done. It totally can be, as proven by Coola. Take a look!

Coola Daydream Mineral Primer SPF 30

The Coola Daydream Mineral Primer SPF 30 comes in a frosted glass pump bottle, is white and has a smooth, lightweight texture that spreads out over the skin like a dream and leaves a beautifully soft, silky finish.

Ingredients: Titanium Dioxide (Sunscreen) 2.3%, Zinc Oxide (Sunscreen) 4.0%, Alumina, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Hexyl Laurate, Iris Pallida Leaf Cell Extract, Isododecane, Lonicera Japonica Callus Extract, Mica, Nymphaea Alba Leaf Cell Extract, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Polyglyceryl-4 Isotearate, Polysilicone-11, Silica, Stearic Acid, Titanium Dioxide, Trimethylsiloxysilicate.

Most of my primers are very thick and pasty – if you’re an oil slick like me that’s usually what you need – and the Coola Daydream Mineral Primer SPF 30 is pretty much the complete opposite of that. But that doesn’t’ mean I don’t like it. Because I do. I really do.

Even though the formula doesn’t blur my pores and offers zero oil control it makes my skin look and feel amazingly smooth – sooooo soooooooft! – while offering reliable broad-spectrum sun protection in the form of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. On top of that the formula is also completely fragrance-free and doesn’t contain any potential skin irritants, which is something that my sensitive skin very much appreciates. So all in all there is a lot to love about the Coola Daydream Mineral Primer SPF 30.

Coola Skinny Dip Tinted Mineral Liplux SPF 30

Moving on to lips. I was already a fan of the sport version of the Coola Liplux SPF 30, so when I found out that there’s also a tinted mineral version I of course had to try it.

Ingredients: Titanium Dioxide (Sunscreen) 2.8%, Zinc Oxide (Sunscreen) 1.4%, ORGANIC Beeswax, Butyrospermum Parkii (ORGANIC Shea Butter), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Copernicia (ORGANIC Carnuba) Wax, Flavor, Iron Oxide, Jojoba Esters, Mica, Octyldodecyl Oleate, Olea Europaea (ORGANIC Olive) Fruit Oil, Oryzanol, Schinziophyton Rautanenii Kernel (ORGANIC Mongongo) Oil, Silica, Theobroma Grandiflorum (ORGANIC Cupuacu) Seed Butter, Tocopherol.

The Coola Skinny Dip Tinted Mineral Liplux SPF 30 offers mineral sun protection in the form of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide and contains an impressive mix of emollients to keep your lips soft, comfortable and moisturized.

Skinny Deep is a muted peachy nude and is very subtle. Since it’s so light the application is effortless and fool-proof, which makes it the perfect lip balm for on the go. I’m a fan!

In these photos I’m wearing just the Coola Daydream Mineral Primer SPF 30 on my skin with a generous dusting of my Morphe Banana Powder and some blush on top. Not bad, eh? And on my lips is of course the Coola Skinny Dip Tinted Mineral Liplux SPF 30. I think Skinny Deep really worked for this particular look, what with the eyes already demanding a lot of attention, but I think I might try one of the brighter shades next and maybe pick up something a little more pink or coral.

Do you care about sun protection in make-up? Are you a Coola fan?

  1. Leuke producten! Ik ken ze nog niet. Klinkt erg interessant

  2. What a beautiful look! I love the idea of making a wider variety of skin and makeup products with SPF protection available. You can never have too many options. That way everyone can find a way to incorporate sun protection into their makeup routine, regardless of how many (or few) steps their personal routines have.

  3. Schön das sogar ein Sonneschutzfaktor dabei ist ;-) LG

  4. I have very sensitive skin, to the point that the sun touching it produces pain :( So I always like to know about products with SPF, like the Coola Mineral primer. I would like to try it. You look gorgeous, always,! Thank you for showing these products to us, I really want the primer!

  5. You’re so damn pretty! Great review (as always) and YES more SPF!

  6. Haven’t used anything by this brand just yet but I do try to pay attention to it since I often don’t put actual sunscreen on.

  7. The camel made me laugh…
and you look sooo pretty I especially love the first pic of you. <3

  8. Leuke producten zeg! En die kameel haha super grappig!

  9. Mooie producten.

  12. I recently got a travel size of this primer and I’m about to try it. I live in a place where the sun shines year round so I became very serious about wearing SPF daily (after I started getting a lot of sun spots the first year after moving here), but I HATE greasy sunscreens with a vengeance… I’ve been on the hunt for an SPF that doesn’t leave that yucky film on the skin, and so far I’ve only found one, but it’s almost double the price of the Coola (it’s the Blurring Moisturizer by Algenist).

  13. Melissa, I really like the idea of all of our make up having actual SPF in it, it would cut off the extra step of applying it separately … xox

  14. I like the idea of more SPF in makeup, but I feel that would make people complacent about using actual sunscreen, ya know? Because to be effective, you need a certain amount of that SPF on your face and makeup can’t quite make it so that you always apply that amount-it’s two milligrams of sunscreen per square centimeter of skin which equates to 1/4 of a teaspoon. I know that doesn’t sound like a lot, but most people don’t use that much.
But I would like to see it in MORE products for sure I agree! I think all lipstick should have it. More concealers should for sure!

  15. ‘t Ziet er zeker interessant uit maar SPF is niet altijd handig in de makeup wereld van shoots en video. Kan een serieuze flashback veroorzaken. Dus voor privé gebruik met je eens, maar voor mijn werk als makeup artist liever niet.

  16. Never heard of Coola, but I think that 2017 will be a year where I update my products with SPF :) .
