Video | Make-Up + Jewelry Storage

I’m not gonna lie, I probably never would have shot today’s video if it wasn’t for my new GoPro Hero 5 Black. When the memory card for my new GoPro finally arrived I wanted to shoot some footage right away and since we probably won’t go skiing for another couple weeks I figured I might as well record a video for the blog with it. The only problem was that I didn’t have any inspiration. I already had my face on, so I couldn’t do a Get Ready With Me video. And since I’m an impatient little girl with zero restraint I obviously wasn’t going to wait until the next morning to try my camera. So in the end I decided to do a video on how I store my make-up and jewelry. I’ve been seriously downsizing my make-up and jewelry collection lately – freebies for all! – and in doing so I’ve come up with some rather creative storage options. Take a look!

What do you say, should I shoot more blog videos with my new GoPro? How do you store your make-up and jewelry?

Coastal Scents Hot Pots fit in the e.l.f. Elements Custom Compact!

Remember those three Coastal Scents Hot Pots I showed you in my USA beauty haul video? Turns out they fit perfectly in the e.l.f. Elements Custom Compact** ! I was already using the e.l.f. compacts with several MAC Pro Palette Refill Pans, but apparently they also hold my beloved Coastal Scents Hot Pots. How awesome is that?!

I keep most of my Coastal Scents Hot Pots in a 12-piece Coastal Scents Custom Palette, but since I travel a lot – and often with just hand luggage – quads are more practical for me, so I decided to fill up one of my e.l.f. Elements Custom Compacts with Snow Bunny, New Terrain, New Penny and Dark Golden Olive.

New Terrain and Dark Golden Olive are lovely lid shades – you know I love my golds and greens – while New Terrain is great for contrast and crease work and Snow Bunny makes a wonderful inner corner highlight shade. So by putting all four together I basically created the perfect eyeshadow quad for myself, woot!

Are you a Coastal Scents Hot Pot fan? Do you like customizing your own eyeshadow palettes?

Getting rid of my mineral sunscreen’s white cast with the e.l.f. Flawless Finish Foundation

I merrily LOL and WTF my way through life, but my absolute favorite three letter abbreviation is SPF. As most of you probably know I wear sunscreen religiously and I have a preference for mineral sunscreens, especially for my face. Mineral formulas are just a lot gentler on my skin and I also find them much easier to work with. The only downside of wearing mineral sunscreens on your facade is that they leave a nasty white cast. And with every reapplication the effect just gets worse and worse. I swear, during the peak of the heat wave earlier this month I was using so much sunscreen that I thought my face was going to turn translucent at some point, I looked so pale!

Determined to banish my ghost problem I decided to order two dark foundations from e.l.f. to mix with my mineral sunscreen in order to counter the white cast and add a little extra color to my face. I went with the e.l.f.** Flawless Finish Foundation, partially because it gets many raving reviews and has a very reasonable price tag, but also because it comes in a wide range of colors and has SPF 15 for some added sun protection. Told you SPF was my favorite three letter abbreviation!

My favorite sunscreen

The shades that I ordered, Almond and Caramel, are obviously way too dark for me, but mixed with my sunscreen they make my skin look naturally sun-kissed and stop the zinc oxide from turning me into a human-sized snowflake. I just add a drop of Caramel or Almond with my favorite sunscreen, et voilà, natural-looking bronzed skin that looks like it has actually seen some sun. Depending on whether I use Caramel or Almond and on the foundation-sunscreen ratio that I use the effect can go from subtly sun-kissed to I-just-spent-two-weeks-on-Mercury tanned. Either way I think both shades are great for adding color to my face and getting rid of that annoying white cast. Mission banish the ghost: successful!

Eat that, Casper!

How do you counter the white cast from your mineral sunscreen? Have you tried the e.l.f. Flawless Finish Foundation yet?

Using Veet Hair Removal Cream to remove arm hair

In April of last year I raved about the Veet Hair Removal Cream for Bikini & Underarms and I’ve been using it ever since to keep my bikini area a.k.a. Fun Beach all smooth and sexay.

But that’s not all I use it for. Last summer I also decided to try the product to remove the unsightly hair on my arms. Yes people, I’m a hairy woman. It’s bad enough that I have to tweeze my eyebrows every single day to prevent them from becoming Siamese twins and turning into a unibrow, but I’ve also been blessed with hair in unnecessary places, like for example on my arms. Especially in summer I get really self-conscious about those hairs, so one sunny morning in late August I decided to slather my arms in Veet Hair Removal Cream for Bikini & Underarms. I didn’t have anything to lose after all, except for hair, which was the whole point of trying the product on my arms in the first place.

I left the cream on for about eight minutes before scraping it off and getting in the shower. The result? Perfectly smooth hair-free arms! And no irritation whatsoever! My skin felt soooo soft, I couldn’t stop touching it. And the best part? It remained soft for DAYS! After a week or so the hair on my arms slowly started to grow back, but it didn’t feel stubbly at all. After two weeks I used the Veet Hair Removal Cream for Bikini & Underarms again, but I probably could have waited another week if I had wanted to.

From all icky and hairy…

…to one fine smooth-lookin’ arm!

Bottom line? The Veet Hair Removal Cream for Bikini & Underarms does a great job removing arm hair and is a godsend for women like me who want to get rid of unwanted body hair. I’ve been using the Veet Hair Removal Cream for Bikini & Underarms every two to three weeks since August and I’m pretty sure I’m hooked for life. That’s something worth sharing, don’t you agree?

Beauty hack: using gel eyeliner as eyebrow gel

Klik hier voor de Nederlandse versie.

I don’t know about you, but when I hit the pan on a make-up product I always feel kind of confused. On one hand it makes me feel victorious – a bit like this – but on the other hand it also makes me panic a little because, you know, how will I ever survive without my beloved product? I usually have back-up or replacement products in stock to replace my empties with, but when I finished my beloved e.l.f. Eyebrow Kit I didn’t. I know, I’m slipping…

R.I.P. e.l.f. Eyebrow Kit

Half hysterical I started rummaging through my make-up stash until I found my brown IsaDora Gel Eyeliner. ‘Perfect!’ I thought. The eyeliner has the same dark brown color and smooth gel texture as the gel from my e.l.f. Eyebrow Kit.

I used to IsaDora Gel Eyeliner to fil in the sparse and lighter spots in my eyebrows and this was the result:

Not bad. Looks like my IsaDora Gel Eyeliner will serve as eyebrow gel from now on. Beauty hack level: awesome!
