What I Wear On The Slopes + Another Ski Vlog

It’s been ages since I last shared an outfit on the blog and the main reason for that is that fashion features just aren’t my thing. What IS my thing however is skiing. If you’ve kept up with the blog this winter you probably will have caught some of my ski and snow vlogs, and you will know that my favorite thing in the whole wide world is hitting the slopes. And that’s exactly what we did again last Wednesday. This time we headed to Quatre Vallées in Verbier, and of course I brought my GoPro Hero 5 Black camera again to get some on-piste shots. I just never get tired of it, you know… The mountain, the views, the snow, the speed, the adrenaline, I just can’t get enough. But since I don’t want things to become too repetitive for you guys I decided to not just share another ski vlog today (it’s just 4 minutes long, don’t worry!) but to also give you a head-to-toe breakdown of my ski outfit for you.

review Alpina Griva Visor Ski Helmet

Let’s start with my ski helmet. This ski season I finally replaced my helmet + snow goggles combo with a brand new visor helmet from Alpina and I am sooooo happy with it! Not only does the new helmet look extremely badass – think F1 pilot slash Daft Punk member slash astronaut – but it’s also super practical. It’s just SO nice to not have to deal with separate goggles anymore and to just be able to flip the visor up and down as I go. I love it. I wrote a detailed review on the Alpina Griva Visor helmet in December, so make sure to check out the article if you want to know more.

My jacket is from Burton and even though I’ve had it for years it still looks and feels brand new. Ski jackets often look kind of wide and boxy, but this jacket has a nice slim fit that doesn’t hide every curve, which is great. Underneath the jacket I wear several layers of fleece and/or ice breakers, depending on how cold it is.

My ski pants are from Rip Curl. I bought them last season and even though they were pretty expensive and I kind of bought them on a whim I’m really happy with them. That mustard yellow is just such a cool, fun color. I just wish they were a little longer, but unfortunately when you’re tall and thin you often have to choose between getting either the waist size or the leg length right. And since I can’t afford my ski pants to drop to my knees mid-race I decided to go for a perfect fit in the waist.

My ski gloves – or mittens, actually – are from Roxy. I bought them last season after I ripped a hole in my Scott gloves. I have Raynaud’s*, so I prefer mittens over gloves as they work a little better at keeping my fingers warm. I still need to use heat packs to stop my fingers from (literally) freezing though, so I always buy my mittens one size bigger so I can fit a heat pack in there.
* It’s not a case of “boohoo-it’s-so-cold” for me, I have actual extremities-going-numb getting-necrosis Raynaud’s

My ski boots are from Atomic and they’re fitted with Therm-ic technology, which means that I can attach a battery pack to the back to heat the soles. In normal temperatures the batteries last almost a full ski day, though in extremely cold conditions they only last a few hours. But even that’s better than spending a whole day in agony, and I’ll do pretty much anything to postpone my Raynaud’s from setting in. Expensive purchases, absolutely, but definitely worth the investment for me.

And then last but not least are my skis and ski poles. My poles are from Scott – nothing special about them – and my skis are from K2. I bought them in 2013 and just had them serviced for the first time this season. Before I got my K2s I skied mainly with Atomics, but I’m very happy with my pink and purple lady skis and I hope to keep them in tip top shape for a long time.

Alright, time to see all that snow gear in action. There’s less heavy action (read: less bumpedeebumpbump) this time, and more focus on the views and environment.

Video | DIY Pedicure With At-Home Callus Removal

One of my most-watched YouTube videos so far is an at-home callus removal tutorial that I posted 8 months ago. I sure never expected a foot video to get so many views, but I guess people are more into DIY pedicures than I thought. That, or there are just a bunch of people out there with a foot fetish. My foot care routine has changed quite a bit since I posted that first tutorial though (different tools, different foot cream, different habits), so I figured I’d post an update in the form a brand new DIY pedicure video including at-home callus removal with a glass foot scraper file. Take a look!
