Make-Up Look | Brown + Burgundy Smokey Eyes

You’re probably getting sick of me constantly posting looks featuring my Coastal Scents Custom Eyeshadow Palette, but I just can’t help it. I love my Coastal Scents Hot Pots! That’s the beauty of putting together your own eyeshadow palette: every single shade you pick is a shade you’ll love and use and – in my case – throw at people’s faces every chance you get. Today’s look features shimmery golden brown and red on the eyes paired with a peachy nude on the lips. Take a look!

Let’s start with eyes. I went with Coastal Scents Boca Mocha – a shimmery golden brown – on the eyelid and Coastal Scents Pomegranate Red – a matte red – in the outer corner of the eyes and crease. Blending Pomegranate Red into Boca Mocha makes it look less pure red and more burgundy, and turns it into a perfect color match for the Makeup Geek Full Spectrum Eye Liner Pencil in Plumeria that I’m wearing on my lower waterline. I completed the eye look by smudging a bit of Coastal Scents Chocolatier against my lower waterline, highlighting my inner eye corner with Coastal Scents Snow Bunny and applying a lick of mascara (Maybelline Volum’ Express Colossal Smoky Eyes Mascara) and a subtle wing just in the outer corners of my eyes (Sephora Fingertip Eyeliner).

On my skin I’m wearing my trusted combination of the Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer and the Morphe Banana Powder, and for blush I went with Crochet from my Sleek Blush By 3 Lace Blush Palette. And on my lips is the Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Nude Beach, a subtle peachy nude that balances out the heavy eye look.

What do you think of the look? Do you have a favorite eyeshadow palette?

New Favorite Everyday Make-Up Look with Urban Decay And Smashbox

My make-up collection is pretty big and I probably have enough eyeshadows, lipsticks and blushes to wear a different make-up look every day of the year. You’d think that having so much choice would inspire a person to experiment and do something new every day, but the truth is that more often than not I end up wearing the same (kind of) look. For months my go-to everyday look featured MAC Quite Yummy and MAC Everyone’s Darling on the eyes with a pink or nude lip and peach blush. However the other week I discovered a new combo and I’ve been wearing it almost daily ever since. The principle remains the same – a soft smokey eye in warm neutrals paired with a subtle lip and cheek color on a light base – but the products have changed. Take a look!

On my skin I’m wearing a small drop of my new favorite foundation, the Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer, mixed into my all-time favorite base, the Kiss Me Sunkiller Super Lasting Base, which I then set with my beloved Morphe Banana Powder.

On my eyes I’m wearing a combination of the Smashbox Photo Op Eye Shadow in Cinnamon, a lovely shimmery cinnamon brown, and the Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Beware, a matte medium brown. I applied Cinnamon all over my eyelid and then blended Beware in my outer eye corners and crease. Next I applied some black kohl eye pencil, some super thin liquid liner and mascara and that was it. No inner corner highlight, no lash line work, just a simple two-tone smokey eye.

On my cheeks I’m wearing my favorite blush of all time: the Urban Decay Afterglow 8-Hour Powder Blush in Indecent, a natural-looking matte pale peach. And on my lips I’m wearing my wedding day lippie: the Urban Decay Sheer Revolution Lipstick in Sheer Streak.

And for the lips I decided to forego color and keep it glossy and glittery with the lip gloss from my new Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Sunburst Lip and Cheek Summer Glow duo.

Make-up look | Monochrome

Playing with colors and contrast is fun (here’s some recent proof of that) but that doesn’t mean that monochrome make-up looks – a.k.a. make-up looks using just one or a varying tone of one color – are boring. On the contrary, I love wearing monochromatic looks as they’re usually very soft and flattering and give off a very natural, tranquil vibe. Take a look!

Make-up look (Monochrome) (1)

First I outlined my eyes using my Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion on the upper waterline and my Rimmel Scandaleyes Eye Shadow Stick in Bad Girl Bronze on the lower waterline. Next I used a beautiful warm bronze from my beloved Morphe Soul Of Summer eyeshadow palette and Rustic from my all-time favorite Smashbox Cherry Smoke Photo Op Eye Shadow Palette to create a soft smokey eye. And to finish off the eye look I added a few licks of mascara to my lashes and made sure my brows were on fleek.

EOTD | Chocolate Smokey

Those of you who follow me on social media will probably have noticed by now that I have a slight chocolate addiction. And by slight I mean major. Rarely a day goes by that I don’t enjoy a chocolatey treat in one form or another and if there’s dessert to be made or had I’ll always go for the chocolatiest option. Think chocolate moelleux with extra chocolate sauce, a scoop of dark chocolate ice cream and some chocolate sprinkles on top.

And even in make-up I often reach for chocolates. You can never go wrong with nice chocolate brown eyeshadow after all. For today’s EOTD I created a super quick chocolate brown smokey look featuring the Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow in Chocolate – how fitting – and Rustic from my favorite Smashbox Cherry Smoke Photo Op Eye Shadow Palette.

First I applied Chocolate all over my moving eyelid, followed by Rustic in the outer corner of my eye and crease.

Then I just blended everything into a nice smokey look, applied some black eye pencil and a few coats of black mascara and that was it, chocolate smokey eyes in under five minutes. A total piece of (chocolate) cake!
