I’m not gonna lie, I probably never would have shot today’s video if it wasn’t for my new GoPro Hero 5 Black. When the memory card for my new GoPro finally arrived I wanted to shoot some footage right away and since we probably won’t go skiing for another couple weeks I figured I might as well record a video for the blog with it. The only problem was that I didn’t have any inspiration. I already had my face on, so I couldn’t do a Get Ready With Me video. And since I’m an impatient little girl with zero restraint I obviously wasn’t going to wait until the next morning to try my camera. So in the end I decided to do a video on how I store my make-up and jewelry. I’ve been seriously downsizing my make-up and jewelry collection lately – freebies for all! – and in doing so I’ve come up with some rather creative storage options. Take a look!

✿ My new baby: the GoPro Hero 5 Black (thank you to my AWESOME friend!) ✿
What do you say, should I shoot more blog videos with my new GoPro? How do you store your make-up and jewelry?
If there’s one occasion to go all out with make-up it’s New Year’s Eve. Glitter! Sparkle! Falsies! The bigger the better! But not for me. At least not this year. After spending a week in Belgium for Christmas the hubby and I were all partied out and desperate for some alone time, so we decided to stay in and welcome the new year at our place with a home-cooked meal, (lots of) champagne and a festive dessert. And it was perfect!
And, since we’re doing the full breakdown anyway, let’s also have a look at accessories. I’m wearing my favorite choker necklace from Born Pretty** – awesome find, if I do say so myself – together with a brand new pair of silver star earrings, also from Born Pretty**.
What make-up did you wear for New Year’s Eve? How did you ring in the new year?
Back in September the amazingly talented Jessica did this portrait of me:
Pretty cool, right? Just imagine my reaction when I visited her website one day and found this awesome portrait of me on there! I think she did an absolutely amazing job with it and she totally nailed me (in an artistic painterly kind of way, not a girl-on-girl action kinda way). And don’t you just love those big bee earrings she gave me? My name is Melissa which comes from the Greek word μέλισσα and means honey bee, so I thought the bee earrings were a really nice touch. Needless to say when I spotted a pair of smaller yet otherwise very similar honey bee earrings in the Born Pretty online store** for just 2.50 USD I simply HAD to have them. Because they’re cute. And because of the relation to my name. And also a little bit because I wanted a reason to feature Jessica’s awesome painting on the blog and give her a little shout-out. So Jessica, this one’s for you!
What do you think of the painting? Do you like my new bee earrings?
When you love arm candy, have a soft spot for gold and rose gold accessories and feel naked without a watch you just know that all resistance is futile when you spot a beauty like this:
How on earth is a girl supposed to ignore a watch like this? Let me answer that for you: she isn’t. She just gets that baby on her wrist asap, simple as that. I ordered the Michael Kors Runway Slim II MK3493 watch (199 EUR) back in October and I basically haven’t taken it off since I got my hands on it my arm in it.
And can you blame me? I mean, what a stunner, right? Because I have thin wrists I usually wear more delicate watches, but when I spotted this watch I just thought what the heck, let’s go a bit bigger and bolder. And I’m glad I did, because I think that despite the 42 mm diameter of the dial the watch still looks elegant and not at all clunky. And it doesn’t feel too heavy either. Sure, compared to a small thin watch with a leather wrist band the Michael Kors Runway Slim II watch feels noticeably heavier, but despite the extra weight it sits well on my wrist and is very comfortable to wear. And thanks to the custom-made wrist band there’s no annoying shifting or flopping around.
And of course I absolutely love love LOVE the combination of the gold case, the rose gold dial and the gold and pink wrist band. Makes my rose gold-loving heart skip a beat!
Are you a fan of rose gold? What do you think of my new Michael Kors watch?
