Make-Up Look | Brown + Burgundy Smokey Eyes

You’re probably getting sick of me constantly posting looks featuring my Coastal Scents Custom Eyeshadow Palette, but I just can’t help it. I love my Coastal Scents Hot Pots! That’s the beauty of putting together your own eyeshadow palette: every single shade you pick is a shade you’ll love and use and – in my case – throw at people’s faces every chance you get. Today’s look features shimmery golden brown and red on the eyes paired with a peachy nude on the lips. Take a look!

Let’s start with eyes. I went with Coastal Scents Boca Mocha – a shimmery golden brown – on the eyelid and Coastal Scents Pomegranate Red – a matte red – in the outer corner of the eyes and crease. Blending Pomegranate Red into Boca Mocha makes it look less pure red and more burgundy, and turns it into a perfect color match for the Makeup Geek Full Spectrum Eye Liner Pencil in Plumeria that I’m wearing on my lower waterline. I completed the eye look by smudging a bit of Coastal Scents Chocolatier against my lower waterline, highlighting my inner eye corner with Coastal Scents Snow Bunny and applying a lick of mascara (Maybelline Volum’ Express Colossal Smoky Eyes Mascara) and a subtle wing just in the outer corners of my eyes (Sephora Fingertip Eyeliner).

On my skin I’m wearing my trusted combination of the Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer and the Morphe Banana Powder, and for blush I went with Crochet from my Sleek Blush By 3 Lace Blush Palette. And on my lips is the Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Nude Beach, a subtle peachy nude that balances out the heavy eye look.

What do you think of the look? Do you have a favorite eyeshadow palette?

Two Dashes Of Glam | Christmas Colors

Only a couple more days until Christmas, guys, yay! And since the hubby and I are going back home to Belgium for the holidays I’m extra excited. For this month’s Two Dashes Of Glam post my jolly blogging buddy Natasja and I decided to keep it traditional and create two holiday inspired make-up looks in typical Christmas colors. Check it out!

My Christmas Make-Up

When I think Christmas I think red, green and gold. And so does everyone else, probably. Predictable? Maybe. But what else was I gonna do? Blue eyeshadow and a purple lip? Baby Jeebus would turn in his crib, I’m sure! So red, green and gold it is.

✿ Coastal Scents Pomegranate Red (bottom right) ✿

On my eyes I used a combination of the Wet ‘n Wild Color Icon Loose Pigment in Dom & Cherry On Top, an intense warm gold, and Coastal Scents Pomegranate Red, a matte hot red. I first applied the gold on my entire eyelid and then blended the matte red into it in the outer corners of my eyes and crease.

Next I used the Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Pencil in Glossy Emerald, a stuh-huh-huuuuning green eye pencil, to outline my lower waterline and then smudged MAC New Crop against my lower lash line to infuse the look with even more green.

And as a final touch I used my beloved MAC Lion Babe Liquidlast Liner to draw a subtle gold wing in my outer eye corners. Finish up with a few coats of mascara, et voilà, Christmassy eye look done!

For blush I used NARS Exhibit A, a matte orangey red, and on my lips I’m wearing MAC See Sheer, a subtle muted coral red from the MAC Red Red Red Collection.

Natasja’s Christmas Make-Up

Natasja ended up using the exact same colors as I did – gold, red and green – but decided to infuse her look with an extra touch of sparkle. Quickly visit Eyes Painted Black to check out her look!

Have you decided on this year’s Christmas make-up yet? What are typical Christmas colors for you?

Make-up look | Colorful smokey eyes for summer

If you saw my Coastal Scents post from earlier this week you know that I recently filled up my Coastal Scents custom eyeshadow palette with five new Hot Pots. Today I’m featuring three of those Hot Pots in a colorful summer look. Check it out!

✿ Vibrant Lime Green (bottom row 1st shade), Sundried (bottom row 2nd shade), Pomegranate Red (bottom row 4th shade) ✿

First I applied Sundried all over my eyelid before blending it with some Pomegranate Red in the outer corner of my eye and crease. Then I applied a bit of Vibrant Lime Green in the inner corner of my eye for an added touch of color. It’s an unusual combination for sure, but I personally think it really works.

Finish off with some black liquid eyeliner along the upper lash line, a few coats of mascara on the lashes and some burgundy red eye pencil on the lower waterline et voilà, a warm summery smokey eye with plenty of color!

Two Dashes of Glam | Spice Girls-inspired make-up

Good news, folks! After a 4-month hiatus the Two Dashes of Glam team is back, whoop whoop! And we’re kicking off our comeback with one hell of a theme: the Spice Girls! Check it out.

My Ginger Spice make-up look

Make-up look (Spice Girls inspired make-up) (2)

I never really had a favorite Spice Girl – I just wanted to be liked all of them – but because Ginger Spice was always rocking lots of red – both in her outfits and make-up – I decided to go with a look featuring red as the main color. But rather than just literally copying Geri’s Spice Girls look I decided to use bits and pieces from it to create a contemporary ‘inspired by’ type of look, adapted to my personal style.

Sephora Fingertip Eyeliner

On the eyes I used Frappa and Mars from my Makeup Geek x Manny Mua palette to do a fiery smokey look. And then, before finishing off the look with mascara and eye pencil, I recreated Geri’s winged eyeliner look using the Sephora Fingertip Eyeliner.

Review Bobbi Brown Nourishing Lip Color Oil-Infused Shine Coral Pop swatch

Bobbi Brown Coral Pop

For lips I was completely inspired by Geri’s red plump up pout. After overlining my lips for some extra fullness I applied the Bobbi Brown Nourishing Lip Color Oil-Infused Shine in Coral Pop and mattified the shine a bit with my Smashbox Insta-Matte Lipstick Transformer. Aaaaaand pout!

Natasja’s Posh Spice make-up look

My beautiful blogging sista Natasja decided to make a modern version of Posh Spice’s signature look of smokey eyes and brown lips. Quickly hop over to her blog to check out the result!

Were you a Spice Girls fan? Who was your favorite Spice Girl? What do you think of our Spice Girls-inspired looks?

Beauty and the geek | A shadowy rogue look in black and red

It’s time for another Beauty and the geek article, woop woop! This month Sylirael and I picked a rogue theme. For those of you who aren’t in touch with their inner nerd, rogues are a bit like assassins or ninjas. They’re sneaky, stealthy and they’re the masters of hide and seek. They hide in the shadows and patiently wait for the right time to sneak up on their prey and finish it with a silent, deadly attack. A talented rogue has his poison-soaked dagger against his victim’s throat long before they’ve even realized they aren’t alone. *SLASH* And before their body hits the ground the rogue will have vanished again, back into the shadows…

My rogue look

Beauty and the geek (A shadowy rogue look in black and red) (1)

I based my look on my favorite rogue armor set from World of Warcraft, the Bloodfang set. Bloodfang armor puts rogues from head to toe in black, with a few blood red accents here and there. Using those two colors I created a smokey eye look. No bold lips or colorful details this time – rogues are all about subtlety – but just deep black eyeshadow with a smokey red gradient effect. Discreet yet piercing, just like a rogue’s blade, this eye look is perfect for quietly sneaking up on a target and giving them one last cold-blooded look before putting a dagger through their heart.

Sylirael’s rogue look

Sylirael is treating you to two looks again this month! The first one is a wearable modern rogue look, and the second one is a bit more extreme and is based on the characters from Thief 4, a game where you play a stealthy master thief. What are you waiting for, grab your cloak and dash over to The Painted Rogue blog to check out Syl’s looks!

What do you think of this month’s theme? Would you make a good rogue?

Update: Sylirael turned out to do just one look in the end, but it sure looks awesome!
