Two Dashes Of Glam | Green, Yellow And Orange

For our first Two Dashes Of Glam collaboration of 2017 Natasja and I decided to pick three colors for each other to incorporate in a make-up look. Check it out!

My Make-Up Look In Green, Yellow & Orange

Natasja gave me three unconventional colors to work with: green, yellow and orange. I bet you were expecting me to come up with a super colorful look, but nope, I actually did something fairly wearable. Sure, green, yellow and orange aren’t the most traditional make-up colors, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they have to look all wild and crazy.

On my eyes I’m wearing a combination of Coastal Scents Dark Golden Olive (eyelid) and New Terrain (outer eye corner + crease) in a dark green smokey look. Normally I’d also apply New Terrain against my lower lash line and use a color like Snow Bunny (top left in the quad) to highlight my inner eye corners, but since I needed to incorporate yellow in my look I decided to use MAC Chrome Yellow instead. And, for extra bonus points, I decided to apply the Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Pencil in Glossy Emerald on my lower waterline for an additional touch of green.

And the orange? That’s on my cheeks and lips. For blush I went with Crochet from the Sleek Blush By 3 Lace Blush Palette, a soft matte orange, and on my lips I’m wearing the Tom Ford Solar Affair Ultra-Rich Lip Color, a muted coral orange.

Natasja’s Make-Up Look in Gold, Blue & Gray

For Natasja I picked gold, blue and gray. Gold always looks stunning on her and I have a feeling she’ll pair it just beautifully with the other two colors. Quickly visit Eyes Painted Black to find out how the look turned out!

Make-Up Look | Brown + Burgundy Smokey Eyes

You’re probably getting sick of me constantly posting looks featuring my Coastal Scents Custom Eyeshadow Palette, but I just can’t help it. I love my Coastal Scents Hot Pots! That’s the beauty of putting together your own eyeshadow palette: every single shade you pick is a shade you’ll love and use and – in my case – throw at people’s faces every chance you get. Today’s look features shimmery golden brown and red on the eyes paired with a peachy nude on the lips. Take a look!

Let’s start with eyes. I went with Coastal Scents Boca Mocha – a shimmery golden brown – on the eyelid and Coastal Scents Pomegranate Red – a matte red – in the outer corner of the eyes and crease. Blending Pomegranate Red into Boca Mocha makes it look less pure red and more burgundy, and turns it into a perfect color match for the Makeup Geek Full Spectrum Eye Liner Pencil in Plumeria that I’m wearing on my lower waterline. I completed the eye look by smudging a bit of Coastal Scents Chocolatier against my lower waterline, highlighting my inner eye corner with Coastal Scents Snow Bunny and applying a lick of mascara (Maybelline Volum’ Express Colossal Smoky Eyes Mascara) and a subtle wing just in the outer corners of my eyes (Sephora Fingertip Eyeliner).

On my skin I’m wearing my trusted combination of the Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer and the Morphe Banana Powder, and for blush I went with Crochet from my Sleek Blush By 3 Lace Blush Palette. And on my lips is the Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Nude Beach, a subtle peachy nude that balances out the heavy eye look.

What do you think of the look? Do you have a favorite eyeshadow palette?

Make-up look | Monochrome

Playing with colors and contrast is fun (here’s some recent proof of that) but that doesn’t mean that monochrome make-up looks – a.k.a. make-up looks using just one or a varying tone of one color – are boring. On the contrary, I love wearing monochromatic looks as they’re usually very soft and flattering and give off a very natural, tranquil vibe. Take a look!

Make-up look (Monochrome) (1)

First I outlined my eyes using my Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion on the upper waterline and my Rimmel Scandaleyes Eye Shadow Stick in Bad Girl Bronze on the lower waterline. Next I used a beautiful warm bronze from my beloved Morphe Soul Of Summer eyeshadow palette and Rustic from my all-time favorite Smashbox Cherry Smoke Photo Op Eye Shadow Palette to create a soft smokey eye. And to finish off the eye look I added a few licks of mascara to my lashes and made sure my brows were on fleek.

On my skin I used the Kiss Me Sunkiller Super Lasting Base together with a bit of NARS Light-Reflecting Loose Setting Powder, followed by Crochet from my Sleek Blush By 3 Lace Blush Palette on the cheeks.

Review | Sleek Blush By 3 Lace Blush Palette

Being here in Japan has been rrrrreally awesome so far and the hubby and I are absolutely enjoying the whirlwind of impressions and experiences that is coming at us. Packing for this ordeal was a bit of a challenge though, and it took me forever to decide what make-up to bring. One thing I learned? Palettes are the way to go! Instead of packing a bazillion different products it’s much better to bring a few palettes that contains a variety of shades that you all love and use. Like the Sleek Blush By 3 Lace Blush Palette for example.

That’s right, the Sleek Blush By 3 Lace Blush Palette was one of the lucky chosen ones to join me to Japan! It contains three blush shades that are all different enough to keep things interesting for a long period of time and versatile enough to work with a variety of looks. Crochet is a matte coral orange, Guipure is a pale pink with golden shimmer – getting some serious NARS Orgasm vibes here! – and Chantilly is a matte coral red.

The texture of all three blushes is very soft and smooth and they’re all packed with color. In the swatches I swatched them just lightly, but the intensity of all three shades can be easily built from sweet and subtle to full-on screaming loud. And the longevity is great as well, even on my oily skin.

Bottom line? I am very happy that I decided to bring this palette with me to Japan. It’s a real keeper!

The Sleek Blush By 3 Lace Blush Palette retails for 19.90 CHF at House Of Makeup.

Do you bring a lot of different blushes with you when you’re traveling? What do you think of the Sleek Blush By 3 Lace Blush Palette?
